Last week, I had the privilege of attending the renowned OCEANOVATION festival in Den Haag. This festival, known for its focus on the blue economy and ocean innovation, was a hub of activity and learning. I was there for one day, but the next day, Mia had a school dance event, so I flew back as soon as possible.
There was a vibrant community of 300+ ocean innovators, all united by their passion for making a significant impact in the blue economy space.
And there I was, the ‘weird guy’ with a crystal ball, a tool I borrowed from Mia, my daughter. This crystal ball, a symbol of insight and clarity, was my way of inviting participants to explore their future possibilities and take control of their lives.
“Curious about your future?” I asked the participants. For those who were intrigued, we embarked on a 10-minute journey of vision coaching. It was a delightful experience, filled with laughter and the creation of small challenges that brought them closer to their dream life.
Interstingly, most people just passed by my booth, and when I asked them directly, they said, “I don’t want to know my future”, as if they were fearful of what was coming.
This got me thinking. If people believe that they are not in control of their lives, no wonder they feel stuck and trapped.
To empower people to take a proactive approach in life, I also hosted a workshop, ‘The new Changemaker Mindset: Stop Hustling, Stop Thriving,’ which was fully booked out, and we even needed to send some people away.
Sometimes, a shift in perspective will change your complete life.
And this is what I am working on with my clients.
