Recently, I began working with an entrepreneur who had a strong desire to do everything perfectly.
I totally get it. When you’re committed to delivering the best work for your clients, it’s natural to want your business to be flawless. I was the same way when I started out.
However, while striving for perfection can feel like the right approach, it often becomes a roadblock.
You may procrastinate, spend more time than necessary on tasks, and eventually feel frustrated. This was exactly the case with my client, who had lost the joy of building her business.
During our deep-dive session, we uncovered how her perfectionism was holding her back. She shared that her website, which should have been completed five weeks ago, was still unfinished.
To break this cycle, we co-created a simple challenge: finish the website in just one day, so she could refocus her energy on attracting more clients.
The next day, she messaged me, thrilled that she had completed her website (despite attending a Halloween party that evening). Her energy was renewed, and just a few days later, she shared that she was onboarding new clients with joy and ease.
It’s fascinating how often we stand in our own way.
This experience is a powerful reminder that progress, not perfection, is the key to moving forward. Taking small, consistent steps can often be the best way to achieve your goals.
Remember, none of us are perfect, and neither does your work need to be.
Here’s to embracing progress over perfection and finding joy in the journey!
