In 2015, I was invited by Instagram to shoot for the Francofolies Music Festival in La Rochelle, France.
It was an incredible experience—five days, more than 90 bands, 10 stages, and 100+ photographers, all of us armed with similar cameras, shooting from the same spots during the same performances.
But here’s the thing: I was the only photographer with backstage access to all the stars.
This experience taught me something profound—what truly matters is who you are being as a person, not just the technical quality of your work.
We often think success is all about skills and delivering the perfect results. Yes, quality matters. But I realized that life and work are deeply rooted in relationships—how you connect with people, how they feel around you, and how you show up in the world.
Are you being loving, stressed, joyful, impatient, or angry?
The energy you bring to the table, to your relationships, and your work can change everything.
Who you are being will connect with others and make all the difference.
So today, focus not only on what you’re doing, but on who you are being. It might just open doors you never imagined.
One question for the Weekend
Who are you being today?
I am curious to know.
Love
Matthias
